EMPower Breastfeeding:

Training OPPORTUNITY!!

EMPower Training is a CDC-funded initiative aimed at improving knowledge and skills in evidence-based maternity practices supportive of optimal infant nutrition. By providing skills-based competency training on these practices, hospitals and maternity care centers can better ensure that related policies and procedures are implemented safely, as intended, for each mother and her infant.

EMPower Training seeks to advance knowledge and skills in evidence based maternity practices supportive of optimal infant nutrition. We will provide technical assistance (TA) and training to hospitals in order to advance the capacity of maternity care staff and health care providers to implement these practices in US hospitals. Through the use of TA coaching dyads, made up of experts specializing in breastfeeding education, experienced in managing hospitals in the implementation of maternity care along with quality improvement advisors.

Hospitals will benefit from the development of knowledge, skills and capacity in evidenced-based maternity practices, breastfeeding subject matter, quality improvement processes, change management and practical strategies to address opportunities related to the safe execution of evidence based maternity practices supportive of optimal infant nutrition. Through the use of learning opportunities, such as those within a learning collaborative environment, will provide hospitals with the opportunity to learn from their counterparts by sharing practical strategies to address challenges to the safe implementation of evidence based maternity practices.

Learning opportunities, such as those found in a learning collaborative approach, provide opportunities for hospital teams to learn from one another by sharing practical strategies to address challenges to the implementation of evidence based maternity practices.

Hospitals wishing to be considered for the EMPower Training initiative must submit their enrollment materials using the online portal. All enrollment materials submitted by the deadline (APRIL 13) will be reviewed by the EMPower Training team.
